Reolink 4G cameras use an APN file stored on a microSD card to reach the internet. Follow these steps to import the RelaxedSIM APN (globaldata) into your camera. The whole setup takes about five minutes.
1. Prepare an SD card
Find a 16GB or 32GB microSD card and format it to FAT32. The camera reads the APN file from this card, so it must be empty or at least writable.
2. Create the APN file
- On your computer, open a simple text editor such as Notepad.
- Create a new text file and name it exactly
my_custom_apn.txt. The file name must be exact — do not change it. - Copy and paste these three lines into the file:
apn=globaldata username= password=
- Save the file.
3. Load the file into the camera
- Copy
my_custom_apn.txtto the root directory of the SD card (not inside any folder). - Power off the Reolink camera and insert the SD card.
- Power the camera back on and wait about 20 seconds.
- Use a pin or needle to press and hold the camera’s Reset button to perform a factory reset. The red LED flashes 3 times to confirm the reset.
- The camera reads the APN file and reboots. If successful, you hear the voice prompt: “APN setting has been imported successfully. Network connection succeeded.”
Which SIM works with Reolink 4G cameras?
RelaxedSIM USA data SIMs are prepaid SIM cards designed for exactly this use: no activation, automatic connection, and a free 100MB/7-day trial. Most Reolink 4G models take a standard or micro SIM, so check which SIM size fits your camera before you punch out the 3-in-1 card. See the RelaxedSIM USA data SIM plans or start with the 100MB trial SIM.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which APN value should I use?
Use apn=globaldata with blank username and password, exactly as shown above.
Why is my camera not importing the APN file?
Check three things: the file is named exactly my_custom_apn.txt, the SD card is formatted to FAT32, and the file is in the root directory of the card — not inside a folder.
Does this work for all Reolink 4G models?
The SD-card APN import works on Reolink 4G LTE models that accept a physical SIM and a microSD card. Check your camera manual if you are unsure whether your model supports this method.
